The Torrance Community Transit Program (TCTP) offers transportation assistance to Torrance residents through the Senior and Dial-a-Taxi Swipe Card programs. These programs allow participants to purchase taxi ride credits at a reduced cost, making local transportation more accessible and affordable.

Senior Taxi Program: Eligibility and Pricing

This program is available to Torrance residents aged 65 and older. Ride credits are priced at $5.00, $3.00, or $1.00, based on household income. Participants can purchase ride credits when registering for a swipe card at the Transit Store, located in the Mary K. Giordano Regional Transit Center.

Dial-a-Taxi Program: Eligibility and Key Details

This program is designed for Torrance residents with disabilities. Applications must be completed and signed by a doctor. Ride credits cost $1.00 each, regardless of income. Eligibility for those with temporary disabilities must be renewed annually.

Non-ambulatory participants should request a lift-equipped vehicle when booking and make reservations at least 24 hours in advance. Same-day service may be available but is not guaranteed.

How to Register & Purchase Ride Credits

Registration:

• Apply in person at the Transit Store.
• Applications are available at the Transit Store or online.
• Bring a valid government-issued photo ID and a current utility bill showing your name and address.

Purchasing Credits:

• Buy ride credits in person or by mailing a check payable to the City of Torrance.
• Include your swipe card ID on the check memo line.
• Mail to: Torrance Transit Store, 465 Crenshaw Blvd., Torrance, CA 90503.
• Order at least two weeks ahead for processing.
• Include your email with your check if you’d like a receipt.

General Program Information

• Eligibility is limited to Torrance residents, with enrollment in either the Senior or Dial-a-Taxi program (not both).
• Trips have no location boundaries, but verify with the taxi company for out-of-Torrance travel.
• Swipe card registration is free; lost cards are replaced once for free, subsequent replacements cost $5.
• Ride credits (up to $13 each) are non-refundable, non-transferable, and expire 90 days after purchase.
• A maximum of 12 credits can be purchased monthly. Partial cash payments or multiple credits per trip are allowed.
