Immerse Yourself in Mexican Culture!

The Torrance Travelers are heading to Olvera Street, a colorful Mexican marketplace in downtown L.A., on a special excursion for senior citizens 50+. This trip offers a chance to explore the rich history and vibrant culture of this iconic location.

What’s in Store:

• Olvera Street Exploration: Discover the tree-shaded, brick-lined block, a true Mexican marketplace filled with open-air shops and street vendors selling souvenirs, treats, art, and toys.
• Authentic Mexican Cuisine: Enjoy an authentic Mexican lunch at Juanita’s Cafe, known for its Mexican favorites like enchiladas, taquitos, and burritos.
• Historical Tours:
  • Tour the Sepulveda House, a 22-room Victorian house dating back to 1887. Originally a store and boarding house, it became a Mexican marketplace in 1930. Today, it serves as a visitors’ center with exhibits on 1890s Los Angeles life.
  • Visit the Avila Adobe, built in 1818 and the oldest standing residence in Los Angeles. This adobe house, once used as a military headquarters, is now a museum furnished in the style of the late 1840s.

• Departure: Bus leaves Wilson Park at 9:00 AM
• Return: Approximately 3:00 PM
