Manhattan Beach Seniors: Join the Senior Advisory Committee!

The City of Manhattan Beach is seeking residents passionate about senior issues to join the Senior Advisory Committee (SAC). This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of older adults in the community. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and are considered as vacancies occur.

What Does the SAC Do?

The nine-member Senior Advisory Committee plays a vital role in advising the City on matters related to senior citizens. Working in conjunction with the Parks and Recreation Department’s Older Adults Program, members contribute their knowledge, experience, and insights to help shape programs, activities, services, and policies that benefit older adults in Manhattan Beach.

Meeting Details:

The Senior Advisory Committee typically meets on the second Tuesday of each month from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM in the Sunrise Room at the Joslyn Community Center (1601 N Valley Dr, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266).

Who Can Apply?

Ideal candidates will meet one or more of the following criteria:

1. Interest or knowledge in the aging field or senior citizen issues.
2. Prior experience in community projects or activities.
3. Prior experience in a community-based organization.

Qualifications:

Applicants must also meet these qualifications:

1. 18 years of age or older (2/3 of the SAC should be 55 or over).
2. Ability to actively participate in SAC meetings and projects, and engage in senior center programs and activities.
3. Not currently serving on another City commission.
4. Live, work, or are active in Manhattan Beach, or have professional expertise related to senior issues.
