Find Fun and Connection: Senior Activities in Manhattan Beach at Joslyn Center

Looking for ways to connect with the community, share wisdom, or simply have some fun? The Joslyn Community Center has a fantastic lineup of activities for adults 55 and better, and they’d love for you to join them!

Monday Musings and More:

Kick off the week with stimulating conversation at Group Discussions with Steve! Every Monday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the JCC/OASIS room, participants delve into the hot topics of the day. Think of it as a weekly dose of news analysis, local insights, and maybe even a dash of humor.

Participants bring their perspectives, funny stories, and everyday concerns – all are welcome to share! They pull their discussion points from the headlines, magazines, and other media, but feel free to bring burning questions to the table. Wisdom and wit are definitely expected!

Ladies’ Lounge (with a Twist!):

Wednesdays are for the women! Join Let’s Talk Woman to Woman from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM in the JCC/Sunrise Room (Joslyn Community Center Sunset Room). Facilitated by Senior Advisory Committee member Diane Campisi, this is a space for women 55+ to connect, share experiences, and discuss relevant issues.

They’ll be exploring topics ripped from the headlines, magazines, and more, but with one important ground rule: religion and politics are off the table. This is a chance to connect on a deeper level, share insights, and enjoy the company of other women.

Warm Hearts, Warm Blankets:

Looking to give back to the community? Join the Blankets of Love group every Monday and Thursday from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM in the Joslyn Community Center/Sunrise Room (1601 North Valley Drive). They’re knitting and crocheting blankets for newborns, working with the Good+Foundation of Los Angeles to provide a little warmth and love to babies leaving the hospital.

Whether someone is a seasoned knitter or just starting out, they are welcome! They use soft, washable baby yarn and a simple 36×36 inch newborn blanket size. Bring needles and yarn, and create something beautiful together! It’s free to participate, and the feeling of giving back is priceless.

Sing Your Heart Out!

Does anyone have a song in their heart? Then come join the By Heart Music Sing-A-Long every Thursday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the Joslyn Community Center/Surf Dance Room (1601 North Valley Drive, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266).

They’ll be singing along to classic tunes, accompanied on piano by the talented Karla Devine. All voices are welcome – whether a shower singer or a seasoned performer, come share a love of music!
