The Senior Advisory Committee (SAC) plays a vital role in shaping programs, activities, and policies for older adults in Manhattan Beach.

Working closely with the Parks and Recreation Department’s Older Adults Program, the committee provides recommendations to ensure that senior programs meet the needs and interests of the community.

December Meeting:

Date: Monday, December 9, 2025

Time: 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM

Location: Joslyn Community Center, Sunrise Room1601 N Valley Dr, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266

Attending a meeting is a great way to stay informed about local senior programs, provide input, and see firsthand how decisions are made.

Serve on the Senior Advisory Committee:

The City of Manhattan Beach is accepting applications on an ongoing basis from residents interested in joining the SAC. When vacancies occur, applications are reviewed and candidates are contacted.

Eligibility and Qualifications:

Applicants should meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Interested or knowledgeable in the aging field or senior citizen issues
  • Prior experience in community projects or activities
  • Prior experience in a community-based organization

Additional qualifications include:

  • Be 18 years or older (2/3 of members should be 55 or over)
  • Ability to actively participate in SAC meetings, projects, and senior center programs
  • Not currently serving on a City commission
  • Live, work, or be active in Manhattan Beach or have professional expertise related to senior issues
