10/29/25: Excursion for Redondo Beach Seniors to SuihoEn Japanese Garden

Seniors looking for a day of relaxation, culture, and culinary delight won’t want to miss the “Garden and Bites: A Japanese Journey” excursion on Wednesday, October 29.

Departing from the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center at 8:30 a.m., participants will enjoy a full day exploring the serene SuihoEn Japanese Garden in the heart of the San Fernando Valley, returning around 4:30 p.m.

After immersing in the beauty of the gardens, the day continues with an all-you-can-eat Japanese buffet, offering a variety of flavors and dishes to enjoy in a relaxed, social setting.

About the Garden:

This 6½-acre oasis offers a peaceful retreat with three distinct garden areas: a dry Zen meditation garden, a “wet-strolling” garden, and a tea garden filled with ponds, bridges, stone lanterns, and authentic Japanese plants. The gardens are designed for leisurely exploration, allowing seniors to move at a comfortable pace and soak in the tranquil surroundings.

Level & Activity:

This is a Level 2 excursion, which involves average physical activity, including walking, standing, and climbing for the majority or portion of the outing. Participants should feel comfortable with this level of activity.

• Price: $60 (includes $5 registration fee)
• A $5 registration fee applies to all payment methods (phone, online, in-person) and is non-refundable.

• Household account credits may be issued if all reservations are sold and the City can resell your spot.

• Charter bus transportation is provided to and from the excursion site.
