Festival History:

The Riverside Dickens Festival was established in 1992 by Carolyn Grant and Joan Patton, who persuaded the Friends of the Riverside Library to create a literary event. Originally held in September, the festival moved to early February in 1994 to coincide with Charles Dickens’ birthday (February 7, 1812). Over the years, the festival has grown into a highly anticipated family event celebrating both Dickens’ work and Victorian-era culture, including California and Riverside historical perspectives.
