Heartfelt Care Agency Donates to Institute on Aging’s Friendship Line, Supporting Emotional Wellbeing for Older Adults

Torrance, CA – [May 1, 2025]

Heartfelt Care Agency is proud to announce the Caring Hearts Loyalty Program’s selected non-profit for April of 2025. The Friendship Line, a critical program operated by the Institute on Aging provides emotional support and social connection to older adults and adults with disabilities throughout California.

The Friendship Line, founded in 1973 by Dr. Patrick Arbore, is the nation’s only accredited 24/7 warm line for seniors. Unlike crisis lines, warm lines offer a space for friendly conversation and emotional support — a vital service for those experiencing loneliness, grief, or depression. The Friendship Line has remained uninterrupted for over 50 years, responding to more than 11,000 inbound and outbound calls per month.

“We believe that emotional care is just as essential as physical health,” said Sarah O'Connor, President of Heartfelt Care Agency. “The Friendship Line plays an invaluable role in the lives of so many Californians, and we’re honored to support the Institute on Aging’s work to ensure no one has to navigate life’s challenges alone.”

The Friendship Line is a signature program of the Center for Elderly Suicide Prevention and Grief-Related Services, and is accredited by the American Association of Suicidology. It serves adults aged 60 and older, adults living with disabilities, and their caregivers, and offers support in multiple languages including English, Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Tagalog, Vietnamese, and Korean.

In addition to direct service, the program also provides virtual grief and bereavement support groups, helping individuals process loss in a supportive, compassionate environment.

This vital service is made possible through funding from the California Department of Aging and the City of San Francisco’s Department of Disability and Aging Services.
