This free intergenerational Scrabble event at Osher SDSU is the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow San Diego word enthusiasts of all ages.

*Please note: attendees will be responsible for transportation and parking arrangements. Self-parking is available by using parking kiosks in P7, parking fees apply. SDSU is also accessible by MTS bus or trolley with stops on SDSU’s campus, just a 5-minute walk away.*

What is The Spelling Social?

The Spelling Social is a one-of-a-kind event combining the excitement of Scrabble with the warmth of social connection. It’s not just about spelling—it’s about the conversations, the laughs, and the relationships that grow as participants engage with one another across generations. 

At each event, you can look forward to:

  • Scrabble Boards & Writing Materials: Everything you need for a fun-filled evening of spelling and word games will be provided.
  • Snacks & Refreshments: Enjoy snacks and drinks to keep the energy high as you play and socialize.
  • Exciting Prizes: Compete for fun prizes and bragging rights!
  • Community Connection: Meet new friends, share stories, and connect across generations.

All you need to bring is your enthusiasm and RSVP to secure your spot!

Who can attend?

The Spelling Social is open to everyone who loves words, games, and making new connections! Whether you’re:

  • A High School Senior: Looking to connect with older generations and enjoy some friendly competition.
  • A College or Gerontology Student: Interested in learning from and engaging with seniors in a fun, relaxed setting.
  • A Grandchild or Grandparent: Wanting to spend meaningful time together while having fun.
  • A Senior or Young Adult (18+): Eager to meet new people, share your knowledge, and be part of a vibrant community.

No matter your age or background, you’re invited to join us for an afternoon or evening of fun, connection, and wordplay!

Who is putting this on?

The Spelling Social was developed by Aging Advising, a senior living placement agency. They are dedicated to helping families locate appropriate senior living communities for their loved ones and they publish the widely distributed Aging Handbook that helps families navigate the aging process.

Each event is proudly sponsored by Heartfelt Care Agency, a trusted name in licensed senior in-home caregiving and memory care support. Their mission is to prioritize compassion, personalized care, and open communication to elevate the quality of care for seniors and adults.

Together, Aging Advising and Heartfelt Care Agency are committed to creating a social event that’s not only fun but also impactful—building relationships and promoting intergenerational connections.
